Tired of Washington Politics
31/07/11 16:38
I have not blogged opinion before...need an outlet for the frustration I feel toward the direction our country is headed. The debt ceiling debate has got me questioning our two-party system and the ability of our leadership to get anything worthwhile done in Washington. We have to have action, but the parties can't get it together enough to strike a deal. It's sickening to watch.
My views lie between conservative and libertarian. I believe in small government and minimal intrusion. I believe in the capitalist system and think it works best when left alone. I believe the government was empowered to provide for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and abhor entitlement programs. I am pro-military (23 year retired navy pilot) and support our troops to the fullest. I have no isolationist illusions - we live in the real world and it is not realistic to think we can close the borders and recede behind them in ignorant bliss.
My Blogging is obviously open for the world to see, but I have no delusions of grander. I am an average writer, a horrible speller, and very few of my thoughts are original. My ideals, philosophy, and sense of self are born from living in this world and cruising through life with my eyes open and (mostly) my mouth shut. Mostly, I want to pass my observations on to my kids, who are both in that very vulnerable mid-twenties, highly influenced, gotta find my way in the world stage of life. I believe that, if left to chance, I might end up with a 50/50 shot of having one of them become part of the problem rather than part of the solution. I am not willing to take that chance.
